Hi Opponauts, My wife and I were going through some family photos and ran across this sweet one. Her family was pretty well to do in the past so Im thinking its something rather nice and since they are from Wisconsin Im guessing its American.
Cheers,

1940 Cadillac?
Wrap around grille, fenders, Looks like you have a cabrio version and this is a sedan

Looks like a late 30's or early 40's Cadillac. Series 90 maybe? If it is a Series 90, then well off is a bit of an understatement.
I'd try to figure out if the family parked that in a barn....

Without any research I am thinking late 30s - early 40s Chrysler.
On a second thought a Caddy.

I guessed Packard, but clearly it's a Caddy based on the other responses.

It's a Toyota Echo.

Could be a '39 Caddy, as well. The dominant horizontal grille bars might lead me toward the '39 more than the '40.

Not one person said 'Accord coupe.'

Spot on! I could tell it was an Echo too because it has four wheels.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out, Cadillac Series 90 it is, now I need to make a few calls to see if there is a barn on some long lost uncles property...

I'm going to add just a smidgen to what has already been said here. Yes, that appears to be a 1939/40 Cadillac Series 90. The fact that it is an open touring car (phaeton) makes it about 100 times cooler. And to top it all off, (you probably already know this) the 1940 Series 90 was the last of the legendary V-16 Cadillacs. Yup, that car up there is a sixteen cylinder.
If your family had this when it was anywhere near new, "well to do" would be the understatement of the year. This was a car in the same class as a high model Bentley, Rolls-Royce, or Maybach, which would be about like them driving around today in a Phantom, Mulsanne, or 62.

I believe that is a 1940 Buick Special Convertible Sedan, you can see one just like it here
on toplowridersites.com. The curvature of the hood above the grille is more rounded than the Cadillac and the name appears just above the grille. Also the vents on the sides of the hood are different than on the Cadillacs. With the exception of the bug screen on the family car, the one in this picture is almost identical. Maybe its the same one restored?

Hey, I consulted someone with a bit more prowess than myself on these cars, this is what he had to say:
Several companies did bodies for the 1939 Cadillac, but because of the grill, I believe that this is a Series 75 made by Fleetwood. The series 90 had a flatter front grill.
